In March of 2013, the main tower of Owensboro's First Christian Church was struck by lightning. Fire broke out causing extensive damage to a majority of the property.

For the past 18 months, the members have been gathering elsewhere hoping the time would one day come that the church, established at the corner of J.R. Miller Boulevard and 7th Street, would be rebuilt.

That time appears to be upon us.

This Sunday, August 24th, at a special service at the Owensboro Convention Center, plans will be revealed for the reconstruction of First Christian Church.

It was decided in March that Nashville-based EOA Architects would take charge of the rebuilding project.

According to the official press release, a core group of 15 to 20 church lay and clergy leaders has been planning for the reconstruction of the church based on the growing needs of its congregation.

This Sunday morning, everyone will know what those plans are.
