‘Vamps’ Trailer: Dont Trust The Bloodsuckers In Apartment 23

Alicia Silverstone reuniting with her âCluelessâ director, Amy Heckerling, for a cheeky vampire comedy should be generating a fair amount of buzz. Perhaps now that the first official trailer for âVampsâ has arrived online, people will begin talking the film up and anticipating its inevitable release?
As you can see in the clip below, Silverstone and Krysten Ritter (âDonât Trust the B— in Apartment 23â) play centuries-old vampires on the hunt for love in modern-day Manhattan. Itâs âCluelessâ mixed with âTrue Blood,â or a dash of âTwilightâ ⦠if you can imagine that.
Iâll have to admit, I like the âVan Helsingâ twist that Heckerlingâs screenplay has up its sleeve, and the casting of Wallace Shawn (âThe Princess Brideâ) in the role of an elder vamp hunter could make for an interesting turn of events. Also, Heckerling has peppered her cast with tremendous supporting talents, from Sigourney Weaver and Malcolm McDowell to Richard Lewis and Kristen Johnston.
Hereâs the strange part: âVampsâ will be on select digital platforms on Oct. 19, in select theaters on Nov. 2, and then on Blu-ray and DVD on Nov. 13. The future of independent releasing, apparently.
Hereâs the trailer. Do you think it looks funny?
