1945 — Chicago tavern owner Billy Sianis brought his pet goat into the stands for Game 4 of the World Series between the Cubs and Tigers at Wrigley Field, but he was asked to leave, allegedly casting a curse on the Cubs’ franchise, which has yet to return to the World Series. (More info.)
1955 — Trotter Scott Frost won the Kentucky Futurity at Lexington’s Red Mile, becoming harness racing’s first Triple Crown winner. (More info.)
