Ky. Gov. Steve Beshear Makes Airport Expansion a Reality

Governor Steve Beshear made a noontime appearance at the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport Thursday.  He also brought a gift. A check for $500,000 was presented to the airport to help with the more than $2 million expansion planned to begin in the next few weeks.

Downtown Owensboro 42 Years Ago

While looking for some documents (which I still have not located) I came across some papers from September 1969. No I am not going to talk Nixon, Viet Nam, Hippies or Waitman Taylor winning the primary election.

What most impressed me was the businesses that are no longer around and the prices for products and services. We used these ads to create commercials to air on 1490 WOMI and the competition at the time 1420 WVJS. I think you will agree things have changed.

Owensboro Fireworks Postponed Due to Wet Weather

Sometimes you just can't plan outdoor activities and the July 4th weekend has been one of those.

Owensboro Officials announced early this morning that due to the heavy rain early and an almost 80% chance of  thunderstorms and more rain thru the day, the "Celebration of the American Spirit" has been canceled for the evening. The fireworks display will take place on Friday, July 8, at 9:15 p.m. in conjuction with Friday After Five. For information please call 687-8700.

Wyatt Zane Mehringer was born this morning at OMHS. We are happy to report that both Mom and Baby are doing great. We are not too sure about Daddy.
