Reid’s Apple Festival is This Weekend. October 15 and 16

Bean Soup, Pork Chops, Apple Sundaes, Kettle Corn, Roasted Corn on the Cob, Apple Slushies, homemake cakes and pies, these are just a few of the great items that will be available at Reid’s Orchard this weekend as they hold their annual Apple Festival

Each year the Reid family opens up the place to about 25,000 friends and neighbors to celebrate the families more than 130 years in Daviess County.

Just in case the festival name didn’t give it away, they also have Apples for sale. As many as you want, by the bag, peck, half bushel, full bushel or wagon load. Reid’s has lots of apples. You can even pick your own. (The kids love picking their own).

The festival also features arts and crafts, a petting zoo, broom maker, sword fighting (yes sword fighting….suits of armor, blades and all that knights of the round table stuff), Horse and pony rides and the Reidland Play area.

There will be politicians, musicians, and perhap physicians along with Firetrucks, and more food.

The $3 parking fee per vehicle is the only admission charge and you can roam the ground, listen to music and shop as long as you like. I suggest you get there early as the mid morning and early afternoon crowds tend to back traffic up along Hwy. 60 East.

On a personal note: One bummer about this years festival is that I will be out of town and not able to attend. Maybe I can get a family member to pick me out a great pumpkin, a pork chop, bean soup, kettle corn, apple slushie, apple sundae, corn on the cob and a few other things.

The Apple Festival is an event for the whole family with 20 food booths, 90 crafts
booths, entertainment, demonstrations and carnival rides.

The festival has been named a Top 10 event by the Kentucky Tourism Council and a Top 20 event by the southeast Tourism Society which covers eleven states.

Reid’s Apple Festival is Saturday October 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday between noon and 6 p.m.
