A friend of mine recently sent me an email that contained something I don't recall hearing about in my sixty plus years on earth. You're never too old to learn. It's about Paraprosdokians.

Paraprosdokians are pfun (sic intended). From the website, Paraprosdokianfun, comes this definition: Now in common use the word is from an unknown author, possible 19th century, who mashed up the Greek for para - "against" and - prodokia "expectation". Figures of speech are taken and twisted to where in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected. More often than not, it's funny.

Here are three:

1.  Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list.

3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Brilliant. I wish I could remember them and whip them out at a moment's notice. Stay tuned, I will have more in the days ahead.
