Owensboro Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

Owensboro Police Department officers responded to a shooting call at 2:30AM, Tuesday morning, in the 1700 block of Alexander Avenue.

According to an OPD press release, the victim, 47-year-old Brian Thorpe, had a gunshot wound to his right hip area and was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

The release goes on to say that according to witnesses, Thorpe had been in a verbal altercation with a white male subject who fled the scene on foot after shooting Thorpe in the hip.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the call and are actively working the investigation.

The suspect has yet to be located.
