October is Breast Cancer awareness month. It started almost 25 years ago to help raise awareness and educate us on this horrible disease. It is also a reminder to get screened or to help us remind those we love to get screened.

I was reminded of Breast Cancer Awareness month when I picked up a paper in the studio yesterday. Not because of an article printed in the paper, but because the paper itself was a glowing reminder. The entire paper had a pink hue to it as you can see in the pictures below. It made me stop and take notice which led me to start thinking about Breast Cancer Awareness month and talk about it for a good portion of the day.

I thought this was a great way to bring a reminder of this important month, and it got me thinking of the different ways that stores, organizations, and even sports teams have celebrated those how have made great strides in the fight against breast cancer, and remembered those who have passed on.

We have seen everything from banners in store windows to pink uniforms in pro sports, to large events like this past Saturday with the Komen Race for the Cure in Evansville.  I also see the reminders and support just walking down the street on the shirts of random people I meet.

So Take a moment this month and show your support for friends, family and even strangers that are fighting this fight, and remember those who have passed. And then take a moment and take care of yourself. Make sure you have recently been screened and remind your friends and family about getting screened as well!
