There is nothing better than seeing people help out a worthy cause. And the reigning Miss Daviess County, Katie Bouchard is helping raise awareness and donations for the Daviess County Lions Club Eye Foundation.

Bouchard is working with Stephanie Keelin, Family Resource Center coordinator at Meadow Lands Elementary School, to invite Family Resource and Youth Services Centers coordinators throughout the Daviess County Public Schools district to participate in a project. The Project will collect used prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses and non-prescription reading glasses at all DCPS schools.

Bouchard has also teamed up with Miss Teen Daviess County, Autumn Coomes, to make collection containers, to place at all DCPS schools and create an article for teachers and schools to include in their newsletters to let parents and students know about the project.

According to a press release, the annual donations of eyewear in Daviess County equal around 1,000 pairs per year. Bouchard hopes to double the amount collected.

If you would like to help, you can drop off glasses at any DCPS school. The Lions Club accepts glasses in any condition, color, size or style. The glasses will be refurbished and given to people in the United States and around the world who would otherwise not be able to afford or have access to eyeglasses.
