There were many things I enjoyed from my time in college at Kentucky Wesleyan College. One of those things enjoyed was the annual sock hop. It was part of Dr. Earle’s History and Sociology of Rock and Roll Class. I never had the pleasure of taking the actual class, I attended the sock hop every year I was able.

The students in the class learn and perform various dances from the 1950s and 1960s such as the locomotion, twist, mashed potato, and more. They also dress up from one of the decades.

Well the sock hop returns again to KWC, this year

on Monday, January 13th. It will be held at the Wendell Foster’s Campus, 815 Triplett Street. The public is invited and you will get the chance to watch the dances above and hear some great music from the two decades. Gary Kirtley, a retired teacher from Daviess County Public Schools, will be the disc jockey and dance instructor. For more information you can contact Dr. Earle at 270-852-3617.
