July 20 Friday after 5 Schedule
This weeks Friday After 5 will have some additions and a change or two that I think everyone will like.
First, A special Addition: At 5:00pm in front of the main stage, we will host a special 45 minute premiere performance of The “Sonshine Choir” is a group of 95 high schoolers affiliated with the United Methodist Church. This performance will last about 45 minutes and will be their first in a nine day tour on the road including a performances in Chicago.
UniFirst Courtyard Change: This week’s entertainment will be the award-winning “Straight-Laced” trio. (“The Pits” were originally scheduled but they will now perform on August 17th in the Courtyard.) Meet STRAIGHT LACED, an Owensboro-based trio of teenagers who rock out some awesome country and bluegrass! STRAIGHT LACED includes Jenny Beth Willis (lead singer), Emily Wills (fiddle and harmony) and Quinton Pence (guitar and background vocals). The trio already has many credits to their résumé. They’ve played the World Equestrian Games, the Lanham Brothers Jamboree, the annual St. Jude Radiothon and, last year, they were Kentucky State Finalists in the Colgate Country Showdown, where they performed their original song, “Purple Heart.” They won this year’s Colgate Country Showdown regional contest again earlier this year at Friday After 5. Show starts at 7pm.
Daymar College sponsors “Black Widow Band” on the main stage. Daymar College brings Motown downtown with “Black Widow Band“, one of the south’s top Show and Dance bands for 30 years. The eight-member “Black Widow” stage show is a non-stop visual presentation enhanced with driving beats and the songs you love to hear and dance to time after time. From the sounds of the Big Chill/Motown to the retro seventies, eighties and nineties, Black Widow Band will set Friday After 5 to music. Show starts at 6:30pm.
Gospel on the River: The Southern Sound, Mark Mudd and Southland perform in Cannon Hall beginning at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm.
