It has been made official.  Stephen Colbert will be replacing David Letterman. Letterman announced earlier in the week that he will be leaving his post after many many years behind the desk.  CBS made it official that Stephen will be dropping the super conservative character he plays on "The Colbert Report".  Stephen will continue doing "The Colbert Report" through the end of the year.  There's no word on what Comedy Central will do with his timeslot after he leaves.

Here is Letterman Meeting Colbert

Colbert said in a statement: "Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career.  I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave's lead."

Rush Limbaugh had a few things to say about the whole ordeal.  Someone asked Rush to comment on it yesterday, and he went a little overboard.

Check it out.
