I have some bittersweet, yet exciting news to share this afternoon.  My good friend and colleague Amy Jackson, the CEO and President of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, has officially announced her resignation.  But, she is staying in Owensboro and will be going back to her banking roots with an exciting new opportunity.

Official Press Release from the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce:

Amy Jackson, who has been the president and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce since June 2012, has resigned.
Jackson submitted her resignation to Board Chairman Darrell Higginbotham earlier this week. Her last day in the office is October 3, 2014. The chamber is currently establishing a search committee to find Jackson’s replacement, and will move swiftly to begin the search, said Higginbotham.
“We don’t have any preconceived ideas about where our next CEO will come from,” Higginbotham said. “We will select the best candidate from the best pool, with the best abilities to lead this chamber and continue the mission to grow the Greater Owensboro region’s business community.”
Founded in 1913, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce has worked for a century to provide valuable benefits and services to member business and individuals. Today, with a membership base of more than 930, the Chamber is a critical partner in community and business development initiatives, serving as the center of business advocacy for the Greater Owensboro region.

As for Amy's new post . . . she will be joining the team at First Security Bank, where she will serve as Market President.

And, on a major personal note, I am thrilled for Amy!  I have had an absolute blast working with her on Rooster Booster and various radio projects over the last couple of years. She's a true delight and a great friend.  I can also tell you that on a professional level she is top-of-the-line and as good as it gets.  She is sharp, dedicated, energetic and leads like a leader should.  I have seen her in action and she is a tremendous asset to this community and will be a huge asset to First Security.

Gonna miss you, Amy!  The Chamber will miss you.  The crowd at Rooster Booster will miss you.  The listening audiences of WBKR and WOMI will miss you.  And I am definitely going to miss you. Thank goodness I still have your cell phone number.  You better call me.  I don't dress up in rooster costumes for just anyone.
