Glen Campbell has been a star my entire life. I have only the vaguest memories of his variety show which ended in the early 70s. He's always been a big name.

Songs like "Wichita Lineman," "Gentle on My Mind," and "Rhinestone Cowboy" are American classics and his influence has trickled down.

Steve Wariner has long touted Campbell as his chief influence, with Wariner, in turn, being a huge influence on the likes of Bryan White and Brad Paisley. Paisley also cites Campbell.

The sad news of a couple of years ago that Glen was suffering from Alzheimer's disease was followed alarmingly soon by reports of his rapid deterioration and placement in assisted living.

Not knowing exactly the sequence of events, I can only assume that it was decided a documentary on this legend's fascinating life was a good idea at the right time.

If that's the case, I agree. I'll Be Me will hit theatres October 24th. I look forward to it.
