To be fair, this isn't the first time I've been involved in the Owensboro Daviess Co. Christmas Parade. I helped out the Time Warner Cable camera crew a couple of years ago. This was my first time being in the parade. And it was a blast!

We, meaning me, Brett, Jaclyn, Carsyn, and the Brasher Bogue RV assembled down at Owensboro Grain. I had never been inside any of the entrances. About 100 yards ahead of us, the Anheuser-Busch Budweiser Clydesdales were set up for meet and greet, well, meet and nod or neigh.

I noticed only a few people were brave enough to go right up to these giant creatures. The closest I got was the two-head shot. But they were harmless and they were very fairly still considering all the attention they were getting.

Here's the whole gang. By the way, as we were starting our trek down 2nd street, I saw the Clydesdales were lined up on an off street and I yelled back and I pointed them out to Jaclyn and Carsyn. Well, they hopped off the Expedition to snap a quick photo; I use the term "quick" loosely. In other words, I thought they were going to have to hitch a ride on the Budweiser wagon!

As I was taking this shot, I noticed a dog starting to walk up alongside the wagon. A dalmatian! Traditionally, I think of fire trucks when I see dalmatians, but this little guy rides with the wagon drivers, he (she?) is a beauty! Dalmatians have been riding the Clydesdale hitch since the 1950s.

Overall, it was a blast and it was over before we knew it. Can't wait for next year! You can catch the parade on Time Warner Cable (channel 8) at 10:00 am and 4:00pm on Thanksgiving Day and then Sundays and Wednesdays at 7:00pm between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The parade will also rerun on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
