Auditions for Back Alley Musicals' production of The Drowsy Chaperone are coming up on Sunday, September 7 and on Monday, September 8.

In a loving send-up of stage musicals of the Jazz Age, a fan known only as Man in Chair give a spin to the original cast recording one such musical, providing the audience with amusing minutiae about the play and the players. The Drowsy Chaperone is a parody of American music comedy of the 1920s. The story follows a middle aged, social musical theatre fan, as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life as he comments on the music, story, and actors.

This show demands a cast with a wide age range, 18-?. All members will need to sing and dance. Interested people may sing a song from the show or a song of their choice. There will be an accompanist at the auditions. The show will be performed in the Jody Berry Theatre at Owensboro's RiverPark Center on November 13, 14, 15, and 16.

Auditions for The Drowsy Chaperone will take place Sunday, September 7 at 4:00pm and Monday, September 8 at 6:30pm at First Presbyterian Church at 1328 Griffith Ave. Note: Enter the church from the south parking lot off Clinton Place W. at the back. On Sunday, go up the steps to the audition room; on Monday, go in the door which is parking level.
