Sure, Kentucky ranks number one in the nation in basketball, but now Kentuckians rank number one in their love of green bean casserole! The Del Monte company conducted the nationwide survey and 78 percent of Kentuckians either "really liked or really loved" green bean casserole.

I'll admit, it's not my favorite. My Mom will either make a green bean or broccoli casserole during the holidays, sometimes both. If I had to choose, knowing my picky tendencies are not what they used to be, I would choose green bean over broccoli. Why? Broccoli casserole is delicious, but green bean casserole has more textures. It's true the fried onions on top can eventually become mushy like the the rest, but it's still mighty tasty. When folks were asked which secret casserole ingredient was their favorite, number one answer, bacon, followed by cheese, mushrooms, bread crumbs, croutons, or crushed crackers, and almonds. Except for cheese, I'm not sure about that, all of those ingredients sound scrumptious.

According to Del Monte, about 30 million green bean casserole recipes will appear in Thanksgiving meals this week. I'll have to let you know which casserole makes the cut at my house.
