By 4pm the Daviess County Cattlemen had things ready to go. They were providing the food for the Red White and Blue Picnic at Reid's Orchard. The Greater Owensboro Chamber took over the old Red's Picnic a few years back and Reid's Events Center has been the new home.

While the Red, White and Blue Picnic is not quite Fancy Farm, it is growing in size. This year there are no Federal or local races. The State Race for Governor is the biggie followed by the constitutional races for Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor and Agriculture commissioner.

With only a few races on the ballot officials didn't know what to expect but by 5:15 p.m. the crowd was looking good. The candidates politked, Their supporters, supported and undecided voters listened and pondered.

While I never base my decisions solely on speeches there was a few standouts. Senate President David Williams offered some very good points to think about. Gatewood Galbraith has a few interesting comments and brought a smile to our faces.

Todd P'Pool, candidate for Attorney General, was very direct and to the point. The best "STUMP SPEECH" of the night award went to Alison Lundergan Grimes. She spoke with determination and passion bringing excitement to the Secretary of State Race. She was hands down the best orator of the event.

The speaking part of the event ended around 6pm with the candidates spending the next hour or so meeting voters, shaking hands and asking for votes.

I have posted a few random photos so those who did not attend could see what they were missing.
