-by Katie Albers, Wife, Mother, and Librarian who is eager to notice God in the little things.

Lately, I have been noticing that owls are on their way out and the new charm of choice is the anchor.  I see them on jewelry, clothing, home accents, and, personally, I love it! Anchors have been a special symbol to me for a long time, but not because I like boating.

Hebrews 6:18-20 states, “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.  This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.  Jesus has already gone in there for us.”

When I look at an anchor, I see the cross of Christ sitting on a smile.  That smile arises from the hope and peace that come through faith.  So each time you notice an anchor in the store and on the street, say a little prayer of thanksgiving for the latest reminder of our reason to be happy.
